A Sacred Moment of Devotion and Gratitude
On the 9th of February, I experienced a truly profound and sacred moment at the stupa one made even more special because I was able to share it with my mum.
In the name of the Blessed King Samma Buddha, my mum and I had the immense honour of participating in a deeply spiritual and transformative experience the Meritorious Event. More than just a ceremony, this was an offering of love, faith, and devotion a powerful moment that connected us to the ancient wisdom of the Buddha and the countless beings who have walked this path before us.
With deep reverence, we took part in the sacred ritual of laying sand in the courtyard of the Great King Saya, who has undertaken the noble and selfless mission of establishing the Mount Evelyn Mahamevanawa Meditation Centre. Every grain of sand we placed upon the sacred ground was not merely an offering but an intention, a prayer, and a heartfelt expression of gratitude for the teachings that continue to illuminate our lives.
Standing side by side with my mum, feeling the earth beneath our feet and the sacred energy of this blessed place, I was overcome with a profound sense of connection to her, to the Sangha, to the timeless wisdom of the Buddha, and to all those seeking peace, healing, and enlightenment. This act of devotion held a beauty beyond words, reminding us that even the smallest offering, when made with love and sincerity, carries immeasurable spiritual significance.
With hearts full of gratitude, we paid homage to the Great Swarnamali Maha Saya, a revered stupa that stands as a beacon of enlightenment, faith, and liberation. To contribute, even in the smallest way, to the creation of a sanctuary where countless beings will come to seek refuge in the Dhamma was truly humbling. This sacred space will serve as a guiding light, a place of stillness and wisdom amidst the ever-changing world, offering peace and clarity to all who enter.
This experience was far more than just an event it was a reminder of the impermanence of life, the profound beauty of giving, and the boundless power of faith. Sharing this deeply spiritual moment with my mother was an indescribable gift, one that I will carry in my heart always. I know that the blessings of this sacred act will extend beyond us, touching the lives of many, just as the Buddha’s teachings have done for generations.
May this offering bring peace, wisdom, and liberation to all beings. May it inspire love, selflessness, and devotion, creating spaces of healing and enlightenment not just for ourselves, but for the world.
