Your Monthly Soul Check-In

Your Monthly Soul Check-In

Something new each month

I wanted to bring something a little different into my newsletter each month.

A little space to pause.
A little space to breathe.
And perhaps most importantly, a little space to check in with you.

Through the work I do with people, I’m often reminded of just how much we carry.

Our thoughts.
Our emotions.
Old patterns.
Expectations.
Things from our past.
Things we haven’t had the space to process.
And sometimes, simply the busyness of everyday life.

We can become so focused on getting through the day, looking after everyone else and keeping everything moving, that we forget to stop and ask ourselves:

How am I actually doing?

This is something I have had to learn for myself too.

My own healing journey has taught me that coming back to ourselves doesn’t always mean having all the answers. Sometimes it simply means becoming quiet enough to hear what is already there.

So from this month, I’ll be bringing you a Monthly Soul Check-In.

It may be a little reflection, a question to sit with, a simple practice, or something to gently bring your awareness back to your mind, body and soul.

It isn’t about fixing yourself.

It isn’t about becoming someone different.

It is simply an invitation to slow down, listen within and notice what might be asking for your attention.

This month is Coming Back to the Present

How often are we physically here, but our minds are somewhere completely different?

Thinking about what happened yesterday.

Worrying about tomorrow.

Replaying a conversation.

Thinking about what needs to be done next.

Wondering if we said the right thing.

Thinking about everyone else who needs us.

Our minds can take us everywhere.

But our body is always here.

Right now.

One of the things I often bring into my work with clients is the gentle practice of coming back into the body.

Because sometimes, before we can understand what is happening emotionally, we simply need to notice what is happening within us.

So, before you continue reading, take a little moment for yourself.

Put your feet on the floor.

Take a slow breath in…

And gently breathe out.

Notice your shoulders.

Are they carrying a little more than they need to?

Notice your jaw.

Is there tension there?

Notice your belly.

What do you notice?

You don’t need to change anything.

Just notice.

And then gently ask yourself:

How am I really feeling today?

Not how you think you should be feeling.

Not how everyone else thinks you’re feeling.

Not the answer you think you’re supposed to give.

How are you actually feeling?

Maybe you’re feeling happy.

Maybe you’re tired.

Maybe you’re overwhelmed.

Maybe you’re peaceful.

Maybe you’re frustrated.

Maybe you don’t really know.

And that’s okay too.

There is no right or wrong answer.

Then ask yourself:

What do I need a little more of right now?

Perhaps it’s rest.

Perhaps it’s connection.

Perhaps it’s some time alone.

Perhaps it’s movement.

Perhaps it’s nature.

Perhaps it’s a conversation you’ve been avoiding.

Perhaps it’s asking for help.

Perhaps it’s simply giving yourself permission to stop doing for everyone else for a moment and just be.

And one more question…

What can I let go of, just for today?

Maybe it’s the need to have everything figured out.

Maybe it’s something someone said.

Maybe it’s an expectation you’ve placed upon yourself.

Maybe it’s an old thought or pattern that no longer feels like yours to carry.

You don’t have to solve everything today.

You don’t have to heal everything today.

And you certainly don’t need to know what tomorrow will bring.

Sometimes healing happens in the smallest moments.

A breath.

A pause.

A moment of awareness.

A choice to respond rather than react.

A moment where you notice an old pattern instead of automatically stepping into it.

This is the work I love to do with people by creating a safe space to slow down, become aware of what is happening within and gently explore the mind, body and soul.

Because real change isn’t always about doing more.

Sometimes it’s about becoming more connected to you.

So today, come back to this moment.

This breath.

This body.

This beautiful life you are living.

Feel your feet beneath you.

Take another slow breath.

And give yourself permission to simply be here.

Right here.

Right now.

Take a breath…

And come back to you.

A little question to carry with you this month…

What would change for me if I gave myself permission to be fully present rather than always thinking about what comes next?

You don’t need to answer it straight away.

Perhaps just let it sit with you.

And see what your soul has to say.
